Jessica Waite Makeup Artistry

Jessica literally saved my wedding day. Could not possibly recommend her more!! Long Story Short: I had a nightmare experience with my hair stylist, Marci from Maui Beautiful Brides, and on top of giving me completely and utterly perfect make-up, Jessica also stepped in and did an amazing job on my hair in the last minute! Literally, s.a.v.e.d. t.h.e d.a.y. Long Story Long: I had some reservations about having someone else do my make-up on my wedding day (fearing the pageant/doll-like look so often seeming to smother brides' faces); after checking in with several other “make-up artists” in Maui, I found Jessica and was impressed enough to trust her in the first place - a big step. We had a trial run (something the other make-up artists had discouraged much to my dismay) before the wedding, and Jessica's professionalism, confidence, and amazing/hilarious personality almost immediately set me at ease. She asked questions to understand just what I wanted, made sure things were clear, and then worked with me throughout the process to make sure I was completely happy with the result. I really just couldn't believe how good she was. She made me look (and feel) gorgeous, but still look like myself, not like a doll with 10 lbs of make-up on her face. On the wedding day, Jessica arrived promptly, while I was still having my hair worked on by Marci. Marci was already agitated at this point, but Jessica’s mere presence and friendly chatting was initially keeping me at ease. However, the situation erupted with Marci to the point where she was screaming at me and pulling my hair (no, I’m not kidding – I’m headed over to her page shortly to further elaborate that story). My maid-of-honor had to step in and ask Marci to walk away and cool down, and then talked to Jessica about her stepping in and doing my hair. Jessica agreed to help, but was very professional about not wishing to step on any other professionals’ toes, so managed the situation with deft discretion. By this time, I was upset, shaken, and crying – but the clock was ticking and we had to get going on the make-up before guests arrived (Jessica does the make-up outside because natural light is imperative for the optimal make-up application). With incredible professionalism, Jessica calmed me down and finished the make-up perfectly. Then onto the hair… Simply from the time we’d spent together at the trial and on the wedding day, Jessica knew my style, and without my even having to specify, she guessed exactly what I wanted and started offering up ideas. It was about this point that I was nearly overcome by the urge to shower her with grateful hugs and kisses. Working discreetly with my sisters and making due with limited resources and a ticking clock, Jessica went to work and did an INCREDIBLE job with my hair, giving me exactly what I wanted (which was an elegant, chic, boho style that included a braid and not looking overly “bridal”). Looking back and writing this synopsis, I again wish I could go back to Maui and hug her one more time, she was just so amazing! Hire her immediately! Other notes: What other stylists in the industry don’t tell you is that they are NOT trained make-up artists, but rather have been doing bridal hair and decided to additionally offer make-up application. The heat and humidity of Maui in combination with the amped-up expectations and circumstances of a wedding day mean you need a true professional – and after quite a lot of searching, Jessica is the only option that actually fits this description. She was MAC trained and does fashion photo shoots, television, magazine spreads, and others in addition to offering wedding make-up. You won’t find a better professional make-up artist in Maui, trust me, I did the leg-work. I saw her kit myself and it is the obvious mark of a professional. She knows how products work together, how to blend for the perfect color to match your skin, how to balance making you look gorgeous in person and photographs (a very difficult task), and has an incredible personality to boot. As I said before, I just cannot recommend her enough. I wish I could go back to Maui and give her just a few more hugs…

Not only is Jessica extremely talented but she is such a pleasure to work with! She did mine and my sisters make up for my wedding this summer and did such an amazing job! She knew exactly what worked for my face and what I would be comfortable with. Looking back on our pictures my make up really makes everything pop! Jessica is a MUST for anyone getting married who wants they make up to be flawless and last all night! Thank you again!!

Leah Yniguez from Jessica Waite did a fabulous job on the makeup for myself and my bridesmaids, etc. She and her partner were very professional and were also very flexible. We had to switch some services around at the end, and she had no issues. They worked quickly but methodically (given we had 8-9 ladies needing makeup) and the makeup lasted all day & evening! I couldn't have asked for more.

I always see people saying Jessica is the first person they book and as a person with skin issues I knew I needed someone incredible to do my makeup - Jessica was AWESOME! At first I was a little hesitant about the price for her services but after researching found that for airbrush makeup her price is pretty good and she is honestly worth every penny! The whole time she was beautifying me my mom, bridesmaids, mom-in-law and anyone else in the room kept coming over and oohing and ahhing, needless to say I couldn't wait to see the results - she made me look INCREDIBLE, I almost didn't recognize myself :) Besides her fantastic makeup skills Jessica is a genuinely nice person, she is so sweet and in talking with her I found out she does amazing charity work in Uganda - she is an A+ human being in addition to having mad makeup skillz!

I highly recommend Jessica!! She did an amazing job on me, my mom, and bridesmaids. Everyone was so happy and the makeup looked amazing in the pictures as well!! She is also really sweet and genuine and makes the whole experience fun and relaxing. She is the best!

Jessica was another one of my favorite vendors. She was very professional, yet so fun and friendly that I felt like she was one of my girlfriends! She was on time/early for each of our meetings and was flexible to try to fit in everything that we wanted. I had the airbrush application and it was amazing! For someone who doesn't wear foundation, I was a little hesitant at first, but it feels very light and looks flawless. And the best part is that you don't sweat it off. It was about 95 degrees on our wedding day, my dress was extremely hot and everything else was sweaty except my face! She will put on as much makeup as your are comfortable with and her is to make you look like the most beautiful version of yourself. She is absolutely worth the money!!!

Jessica's personality really shines, and she is very impressive looking for her age, and it's not her make-up! She is absolutely easy to work with and does a great job. All my bridesmaids enjoyed getting their make-up done by her. I (and so many others apparently) highly recommend her.

Jessica did an amazing job on my makeup! I had a unique idea for my makeup and showed Jessica some magazine clippings when she arrived, and she reproduced the idea perfectly. She also did my sister and mother's make-up and they looked wonderful and loved what she did. She and my hair stylist Dan Sanchez worked together.... they came to our condo and made everything so relaxed and fun. I felt very beautiful after they both worked their magic and they made my wedding day perfect! The lipstick even lasted after many many kisses :)

Did a great job on bride's makeup but groom's makeup was too overdone. Pictures show too much rouge on the groom's cheeks.

Jessica is fantastic. She brings with her a movie star chair so you feel like a celebrity while she does your makeup. She understand the importance of natural light and will sit you in a room with lots of open windows so the makeup won't look different outdoors. She also knows how to work with Asian eyes and created depth without me looking like a raccoon. Jessica is very energetic and talkative so it takes away some of the stress of the day. She had all my girls chatting and even my very serious and tense mom to smile. She's one of the few people that actually calmed me down during the whole day.

She actually listened to me! I never wear makeup and told her it would look unnatural if I had a bunch on, but I knew I needed some for my pictures. My face looked FLAWLESS in the pictures! She didn't cake on the makeup, but just played up a natural look. Let her talk you into fake eyelashes, because they made the difference in the pictures for sure. SOOOOO happy!
